IDEAL FOR: All Levels
Candlelight Conversations provide a forum to explore the connection between contemplative practice and vital social issues. Engaged citizenship in which people take an active role in their communities relies upon honest dialogue and sincere listening about our common convictions and diverging viewpoints. Candlelight Conversations provide a space for true exchange where people deeply encounter one another in a spirit of authenticity and compassion. Each Candlelight Conversation will include meditation, mindful conversation, and teaching, concluding with tea and refreshments.
For our second Candlelight Conversation of 2019, we will hold space for shares and reflections on the topic of mental health and illness. Facilitated by Miranda Chapman, this gathering will feature Copper Beech Institute staffer Gabriela De Golia. She will share about her experience living with mental illnesses, including major depressive and anxiety disorders that previously put her at risk of suicide, along with her journey towards healing. We will then listen to one another speak to the various experiences of mental illness and recovery. We invite you to join us for this opportunity to learn more about an important issue of our times.
Please note: due to the experience of the speaker and its relevance to mental health, the topic of suicide will be brought up during this event. While we wish to have open conversations about all aspects of mental illnesses, we also ask participants to refrain from sharing any details about acts of self-harm to protect the safety of those who struggle with such tendencies. Thank you for your understanding and support.
All are welcome. No registration necessary. Free-will offering.
