IDEAL FOR: All levels including beginners
You may know all too well that harsh inner voice that never lets you off the hook, finds fault in your best efforts, and makes certain you never get too big for your britches. This is a day-long opportunity to be supported in group meditation practice, dialogue and discussion around awareness of the inner critic. Throughout the day, we will explore what means to develop a more peaceful relationship to this critical inner voice.
While mindfulness practice is not a self-improvement “enterprise” per se, we can use the stability and awareness gained through mindfulness to look more deeply at our habits and patterns. This kind, gentle exploration of thoughts, emotions, and sensations can lead to clarity and choice.
This day will focus on the power of awareness to steady the attention, allowing innate wisdom to emerge. We will spend the day in guided and silent mindfulness practice, mindful movement, small and large group dialogue, and journaling — all based in foundational principles of kindness and self-care. Practices to cultivate compassion and kindness toward ourselves will be emphasized. A special focus will be on our relationship to food and the body.
Please wear comfortable clothes and dress in layers. We will have time for walking outside, if you choose, so dress for the weather. Cushions, mats and a few blankets will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own.
Tuition is $125 and includes lunch.
