Preparing
for your visit
We can't wait to see you at Copper Beech! Below are a few helpful tips to prepare you for your visit.
WHERE TO FIND US
The majority of our programs are held at our main campus in West Hartford, CT—located within the campus of Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center. Our address is 303 Tunxis Road West Hartford, CT 06107. You can learn more about our location and relationship with Holy Family here!

In addition to our space at Holy Family, we host retreats at several other locations throughout the state, so be sure to check the retreat description carefully upon booking to confirm the location.

Accommodations
Our retreats offer you an opportunity to rest, reflect, and turn inward. With this in mind, each guest will receive a private room unless a roommate is requested. Our accommodations are simple and impeccably clean.
The nearly 30 bedrooms dedicated to Copper Beech have been renovated with new furnishings, queen size beds and air- conditioning. Most of the remaining 130 bedrooms available have twin-size beds and are shared with the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center, a nonprofit organization we lease our space from (read more about this partnership here!).
Most rooms have hall restrooms, but there are a limited number of suites available with private bathrooms. Be sure to book early to claim a suite with a private bath!
> AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT OUR MAIN CAMPUS!
Please note that Copper Beech is located within a Catholic Retreat Center. We're not affiliated with the Catholic faith—we're just a bunch of cool humans who believe in the power of mindfulness. However, we rent space within Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center, a Catholic campus. It's important to be aware that there's a significant amount of Catholic iconography located throughout our spaces. We know that this can trigger many different feelings for folks (both good and bad). Click here to read our thoughts on this unique partnership with Holy Family and take a tour of our campus.

Arrival
For overnight retreats, you are welcome to join us any time after 4:30 p.m. on the day when your retreat begins. On a typical weekend retreat, we encourage guests to enjoy a mindful movement and relaxation practice led by Copper Beech staff at 5:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m. An orientation for all guests begins at 7:00 p.m on Friday and concludes on Sunday after lunch around noon, with room checkout at 1:00 p.m.

Late Arrival
If you plan on arriving after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, please e-mail us at info@copperbeechinstitute.org to make special arrangements.

Cell Phone Etiquette
While many guests choose to "unplug" while attending a retreat, we know this isn’t possible for everyone. However, we seek to create a tranquil and restful space for all our guests during their stay. So we ask that cell phones not be used for talking or texting in public spaces such as the dining room or program rooms. Cell phone usage is allowed outside, in your car or in your bedroom.

Emergency
If an emergency arises while you are on retreat, phones in the hallway are available. Dial 9+911 to reach emergency personnel. For non-emergency issues, call the contacts listed on the phone directory posted next to the phones.
