Mindfulness is an approach of intervention that aims to cultivate resilience to emotionally be with what arises rather than to push it away. Mindfulness is increasingly used within school settings to teach social-emotional learning skills. Energy psychology is a collection of mind-body approaches to understand and improve functioning.
In tandem, mindfulness and energy psychology can be used to provide students with concrete methods for facing the difficult. Through visualizations, movement, acupressure, and focal points within the body, this three hour experiential workshop will focus on the intersection of mindfulness and energy psychology, specifically how school mental health practitioners can use this intersection and associated strategies as a way to help dysregulated students cultivate emotional safety within their own bodies/hearts/minds.
Educational Objectives
1. Explain mindfulness, energy psychology, the connection between mindfulness practices and energy psychology.
2. Describe the paradox between mindfulness and energy psychology and how they can be used together for the benefit of emotional regulation
3. Describe skills in the areas of visualization, movement, acupressure, and body focal points
4. Practice skills in the areas of visualization, movement, acupressure, and body focal points
5. Discuss and summarize how to adapt strategies for youth across the grades of K-12

On April 24th, on behalf of CBI, I attended the United Way of Great Waterbury’s 37th Celebration and Awards. Picture this: a room buzzing with anticipation, pulsating with the spirit of achievement and unity. And let me tell you, folks, it was a night to remember, dedicated to honoring the incredible power of philanthropy and community partnership.
